Killing Bono Continues in Belfast
Production has started on Nick Hamm’s comedy Killing Bono based on Neil McCormick’s autobiography, being sold by Salt. Ben Barnes (Dorian Gray, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Easy Virtue) and Robert Sheehan (Season of the Witch, Cherrybomb, The Misfits) are hapless brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick who set up a band in Dublin in the late 70’s. Sadly for them, so did their classmates and rivals, who go on to become U2. Eternal optimism continually wins out over cold harsh reality in a celebration of the glory of failure.
Additional cast are Krysten Ritter (She’s Out of My League, 27 Dresses), Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead, Couples Retreat), Stanley Townsend (Happy-Go-Lucky, Omagh), Ralph Brown (The Boat that Rocked) with Pete Postlethwaite. Also appearing is Martin McCann (Clash of the Titans) as teenage Bono.
Killing Bono is shooting on location in Northern Ireland with additional photography in Dublin and London. The film is financed through the Northern Ireland Screen Fund supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund
Director is Nick Hamm (Martha Meets Frank, Daniel and Lawrence, The Hole and Godsend). Producers are Ian Flooks (Confetti) for Wasted Talent, Nick Hamm for Greenroom Entertainment, Mark Huffam (Mamma Mia!) for Generator Entertainment and Piers Tempest (Like Minds) for The Salt Company,
