With tickets for Josh Ritter’s two orchestra shows in Vicar Street, Dublin in December completely sold out, Aiken promotions are very proud to announce that the Moscow, Idaho born Josh Ritter will play The Marquee, Cork on American Independence day Saturday 4th July 2009.

With an ever growing catalogue of great studio albums (Josh Ritter (1999), The Golden Age Of Radio (2002), Hello Starling (2003), The Animal Years (2006), The Historical Conquests Of Josh Ritter (2007) and 2 live albums behind him Josh was delighted to team up with The legendary Boston Pops Orchestra at Boston Symphony Hall last June. Playing songs from across his six album catalog and more, this was unlike any Josh Ritter concert before it, as his arsenal of classics and fan favorites were accompanied by the grandiose strings, horns, percussion and more from the giant orchestra. It was a magical night that featured Josh’s music performed and experienced in a whole new and unique environment.

Josh wanted to bring that special magic to Ireland where he has built up an immensely loyal audience through a series of intense tours and wonderful festival appearances. Vicar Street, Dublin was the natural place for Josh to do this having recorded a live DVD/CD set at the venue a number of years before and having matured from a solo artist supporting Beth Orton and The Frames at the legendary Dublin venue to one who would comfortably sell out two nights there.

Cork too has always been a special part of that Josh story. From magic nights at the Lobby Bar, The Savoy, The Cork Opera House and The Everyman Theatre, Cork always felt like yet another home to Josh. He is immensely proud to be bringing this amazing show to a wonderful city that he’s had such a great relationship with.
