Cathy Davey : Empire

Submitted by Muze on Friday, 10 October 2008No Comment

Cathy Davey is an Irish Choice Music Prize-nominated, Meteor Award winning musician and songwriter. The albums, Something Ilk (2004) and Tales of Silversleeve (2007), spawned a number of successful singles including “Reuben” and “Sing for Your Supper”.

Cathy appeared on the Elbow track “Grace Under Pressure” and the Autamata tracks “Cloud Seekers” and “Jellyman”. She also supported R.E.M. during their sold-out Live Rehearsal shows at the Olympia in Dublin in the summer 2007, and also appeared in at the end of last year with The Verve in Belfast.

Tales of Silversleeve’ may well be the most spectacularly beautiful Irish album you’ll hear this year. It has songs galore, but it also has these glorious sounds and flights of imagination where Davey aims for the sky and actually gets there. – Jim Carroll, The Irish Times.
